Where else can I read Unshelved?
Aside from this web site, our daily email service, and our book, Unshelved appears in a growing number of print publications and web sites.
Adding Unshelved to your web site
Daily syndication of Unshelved is available for free to any noncommercial web site. Simply include the following HTML code on your page and the current daily strip will be displayed. Please note that this is the only form in which we allow online reproduction of any of our strips. Please contact us if you want to do something different.
<a href="http://www.unshelved.com"><img height="210" width="600" border="0" src="http://www.unshelved.com/today?r=http://yoursite"></a>
Please ensure you replace the word yoursite with the full URL of your web page. Also, we ask that you send us email letting us know who you are and how to contact you in the likely event that we change our syndication method. We hope to publish a list of every site featuring Unshelved - let us know if you don't want us to add yours.
If you wish to include Unshelved on your commercial web site, please contact us for a rate schedule.
Featuring Unshelved to your print publication
Things are slightly more complicated for print publications. As a rule if your publication:
a) is published by a school or library or a nonprofit organization associated with a school or library or school or library system (whew!),
b) is free, and
c) its circulation is under 500
then you can print up to twelve strips a year for free. You must not modify the strips in any way, and we ask that you include the URL of our website and send us a copy or two of each issue for our archives. Since the strips you see on the web are pretty low-resolution, please contact us for higher-resolution images suitable for printing.
If one or more of the above conditions do not apply, please contact us for a rate schedule.
Posters, Presentations, and Handouts
We love to see our strips showing up on walls, in presentations, and in education materials. However the above rules for print publications apply. If you feel your use of a strip might break these rules, please contact us for clarification.
Promotional Materials and Merchandise
We would like to see our characters to help raise money for (and awareness of) libraries. Please contact us to discuss your needs. Meanwhile, we have plans for our own merchandise "coming soon."
Using the Unshelved characters
Our characters are copyrighted, please do not use their likenesses in any way except as part a strip reproduced in its entirety according to the above guidelines. Please contact us for exceptions.
The Bottom Line
Please keep in mind that we are attempting to make a living producing this comic strip, and reproduction of strips and the likenesses of the characters are the chief way we hope to do so. Please exercise common sense, err on the side of caution, and (if we haven't made this abundantly clear) contact us if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Bill and Gene
