Growing Pains

We're at a crossroads here at Overdue Media. We're selling a lot of books and t-shirts, but it takes a lot of time and energy to send them out. And the other day we made the first mistake - sent a book to someone who ordered a t-shirt (still waiting to find out if we sent a t-shirt to a person who ordered a book). And the pile of stuff to be done just keeps growing. So we've decided to take two major steps.

  1. Starting in the next few weeks we're going to outsource most of our order fulfillment to a third party. We'll ship them books and t-shirts and so forth, and they'll send them to you.
  2. We're hiring a general assistant. I'm going to attempt to focus entirely on writing, drawing, and programming, and pass on a lot of the daily grunt work.

Both these decisions will cost us money, and there isn't a lot of money to spend, but we're optimistic that our audience and thus business will continue to grow at its rather heady pace. As my friend Jeff once said of betting on himself, "I will always make that bet." And so we're putting all our chips on Unshelved. Gulp.
