The worst thing about writing a good utility...

... is that once it's written, that's pretty much it. There's no glory, just the fleeting sense of a job well done. Utilities are, well, utilitarian.

I'm thinking specifically of my new Prop tool, the bulk of which I wrote last night from 2am-5am when I couldn't sleep. It looks to see which strips have been changed, updates an XML manifest, then FTP's the strips AND the manifest up to the website, which can then read the manifest to see what's new and act accordingly. All very cool, it removes a ton of error-prone manual steps I was doing, and because it's XML the next few steps will be really easy to implement. But it's not like I can sit and play with it, and it's not even that you're particularly interested to read about it.

No glory.
