I started drawing today's cartoon quite a while ago. Almost two years ago. But I got intimidated by drawing an entire marching band and gave up. It has sat there in our "upcoming scripts" file since, taunting me. The other day I decided to give it another shot. And whadyaknow - it turned out okay. Sure, the details might be lacking here and there. I took broad liberties with both human anatomy and the details of instruments. I expect angry letters from floutists and saxophonists everywhere. But it looks like a marching band and in the end that's what matters. I'm even convinced I didn't draw it any better than I would have - I just lost the fear of doing it badly. I'll drink to that.
