Goodbye, Columbus

Just left my talk and signing at the Ohio Library Council all-conference banquet. A rousing reception and very brisk sales, especially considering they are also selling our books at the conference book store.

Because of the timing I ended up staying two nights and so had a much more restful and leisurely experience than usual. I've made some new friends and had lots of fun conversations, and even caught a showing of Serenity last night, which makes two.

Monday Gene and I drive down to Chehalis to speak at Timberland Library's all-staff day, and Friday we're just down the street in Lynnwood for Sno-Isle's. Then that's it, no scheduled travel until ALA in January, and no talks until March. And right now that sounds pretty good. I need to reintroduce myself to my children, who have probably forgotten what I look like, and my wife, who has shown great patience and tolerance during this six-week marathon of travel on my part. This is a good life - I really do love speaking and selling my books - but I'm not certain it's a good life for a family man.
