Out of Beta

How To Ban a Book

Gene and I are happy to announce that our third keynote How To Ban A Book is officially out of beta. We have now run it by a number of audiences and they were all very enthusiastic about how entertaining and relevant it is to their work lives. It’s ready for prime time. This means we now have three, count ‘em, three keynotes to deliver to your staff day, conference, customer meeting, or other events where library folk gather. And that means if you’ve already had us to speak once or even twice, you can bring us back yet again!

On a related note, an increasingly popular option for our talks is See You In The Funny Pages. Attendees submit true stories from their work days, Gene & I go over all the stories, pick the one we think will best turn into a comic, fictionalize and funnify it, and I draw it on paper using ink, a rare event indeed! After our keynote we discuss the runners-up, announce the winner, show a slide show of the process of creating the strip, then award the original art to the winner (with the suggestion that they hang it in their library).

Today’s strip was suggested by a true story submitted by Audrey Blossic, as part of the Delaware County, PA Library staff day. I had a great time speaking there and the next day at the Montgomery County/Norristown staff day, and I hope your library will invite Gene and/or I to come bring the fun sometime next year. You can find more information at our Talks & Appearances page.
