Cartooning in the Digital Age

Cartooning in the Digital Age

As you have probably heard by now, I leave August 1 on a thirteen month family RV roadtrip around the USA. (I've started writing dispatches on my personal blog).

This is a rare opportunity to hire me to speak to your library's patrons. I have put together a fun and educational new public program:

Cartooning in the Digital Age is a two-hour program by veteran cartoonist Bill Barnes (Unshelved, Not Invented Here). The first hour, The Basics of Cartooning, is a fast and fun workshop for middle schoolers through adult, covering every step in creating a comic strip: creating memorable characters, writing dialog, lettering, pencilling, inking, and coloring. The second hour, The Technology and Business of Cartooning, is oriented towards mature teens and adults. Bill demonstrates how to use computers to create and publish comic strips to the Internet, and how to make money doing it.

If we can work your town into our travel plans the cost is a flat $500. I have begun scheduling talks for the first leg of our trip, which takes us from Seattle in August heading East through the Northern part of the country into Maine in mid-October, so please email me if you're interested!

A teeny tiny book recommendation every day

A witch and her lover (a cat) sit around, get high, and keep their housemate (an owl) from bettering himself.
