Pimp My Bookcart 2010 : I left my 'cart' in San Francisco

from Gleeson Library, University of San Francisco

Made by student assistants (with a little help from their staff friends) in the Access Services Department of Gleeson Library/Geschke Center at The University of San Francisco, our cable car[t] represents some of the reasons why we love this city: lots of great books, baseball (our SF Giants just won the World Series!!), and a little song by Tony Bennett:

“I left my heart in San Francisco
High on a hill, it calls to me.
To be where little cable cars
Climb halfway to the stars!
The morning fog may chill the air
I don't care….”

First Prize

Judge comments:

This year’s first prize was an easy choice for both judges. We passed on the opportunity for our yearly fistfight and settled on this fabulous cable car lookalike. The fit and finish on this one is spectacular, including the signage and the bronzed desk bell on top. The creators also took photos that really showed off the cart from two great angles. USF's Gleeson Library wins a new bookcart of its choice courtesy Smith System.
