I spent an unusually long time on today's strip, painstakingly drawing the backgrounds as a sort of experiment. Is it worth it to pour that much detail into the backgrounds? It's certainly quite striking visually. I've been reading Get Fuzzy and I'm inspired by Darby Conley's beautifully illustrated sets. I have much to learn.
Here is the best review of a bad comic I have ever read. Of course I don't actually know it's a bad comic, but thirty years of reading comics has given me a pretty good sense of these things. For instance, it has "Nightwing" (formerly Robin of Batman fame) in it. That's a dead giveaway. Anyway, this guy doesn't read superhero comics, and he brings a fresh perspective to the genre.
