Yesterday I attended the sad and moving memorial services for Laura Lustig, 10 1/2 year old daughter of my friend and fellow cartoonist John Lustig of Last Kiss. Laura was an incredibly sweet little girl who had significant brain injuries. Brain injured kids almost always have serious immune problems, and as John put it she finally came up against an infection she couldn't fight.
