Unshelved strip for 5/26/2005

On The Kiss

Obviously today is a big step for Dewey. His grandma asserted that he liked girls, but we didn't have any direct evidence until now.

Drawing that kiss took forever. I sketched it a half-dozen times before deciding I needed a photo reference. There wasn't anyone around to take a picture of me kissing my wife, so I started Googling* around. As soon as I found the classic VJ Day photo I realized it was worth the time to recreate that scene. It was pretty fun. And Firefly fans from across the net seem to have discovered us through this strip, so welcome one and all. This week's sequence starts here, though it has been building for almost two years.

*Yeah, I work at Microsoft. Sue me. Actually I started A9'ing around - that site is starting to amount to something.
