Three and a Half

Unshelved is three and a half years old today, a good enough reason to tell you some news and thank some people. This email is packed with information, so read carefully. There will be a test.

First let's talk about talking. We will be giving no fewer than seven talks over the next two months. We kick it off in Seattle this Saturday, August 20th at 5pm at Cartoonists Northwest where Bill will tell you "How to Make Money from Your Webcomic". Then we'll be giving our talk "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Library" at both public and private events in Washington, Oregon, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas. See our homepage for more information, and drop us a line if you'd like us to speak at your event next year.

Next, we've gotten lots of requests for a discount on Book Club shirts for, well, book clubs. Your wish is our command. Now when you buy three or more Book Club shirts they are only $12.95 apiece. That's a savings of $5 per shirt! We also have a brand new women's fitted t-shirt style, which was a big hit at the San Diego Comic Con.

Comics on the web are fine and all, but we like reading them in books. Apparently you do too, because What Would Dewey Do? is joining Unshelved Volume 1 in a second printing, And our newest book, Library Mascot Cage Match has been incredibly well received.

In June we published our twelve hundredth Unshelved strip. That's about eleven hundred and ninety more of anything than we've ever made before. People ask us where we get our ideas. The answer, of course, is you. Please send us your true-life tales from the library (or anywhere else). They don't have to be ha-ha funny. In fact, the weirder, the more random, the more disturbing the story, the more fertile the cartooning ground. Just ask the folks who sent us Bacon As Bookmark, Psychic, and Reanimator. All true.

Thank you for your continuing support. We love making Unshelved, and it's very gratifying that so many of you love reading it.
