Four and a Half

This week marks four and a half years of Unshelved! That means, first and foremost, that we only

have six months left to plan our Fifth Anniversary party (suggestions welcome). But it also means we’re going

to take a few minutes to reflect on all things Unshelved.

Book Club: The Index Since we started the Unshelved Book Club a year ago, the single most

common request for our website has been an index of the featured books. Your wish - eventually - is our

command. Voila, the Unshelved Book Club Index

(and yes, we already have lots of ideas on how to improve it). Also, the Book Club pages now feature a link

where you can purchase your books at Amazon. Or just enjoy the pretty cover art.

Reviewable Speaking of Amazon, we've done some research and it turns out that a lot of people go

there to buy books. Amazingly, the average person on the street still doesn’t know anything about

Unshelved, a situation we’d like to rectify. Please help us spread the love by taking a moment to file

a review of one or more of our <a

Shelved One of the most gratifying things we hear is when a fan tells us they first discovered

Unshelved by coming across one of our collections in their library. It’s just so… apropos.

Library Journal said, “The strip certainly deserves a place not only on the library’s office wall but

in the collection as well.” We couldn’t say it better ourself. All four of our books are now available

through the major book suppliers.

In Person Our Fall speaking tour beckons. We'll be the entertainment at Washington's Seattle,

Kitsap County, and Pierce County library staff days, and at the Michigan and New York state library

conferences too. See the left side of our home page for our

calendar, and drop us a line if you’re

interested in having us speak for you in 2007 or 2008.

Thanks Really, thanks. In the old days cartoonists succeeded by convincing syndicates to convince

newspaper editors to pay them for their comic strips. Times have changed and although we’ve eliminated the

middlemen (good) we’ve also removed the business model (bad). We grow our audience when you make a personal

recommendation and we pay the bills when you buy our <a

href=“http://www.overduemedia.com/store.aspx”>goods or pay us to speak. Your support tells us that we are

doing things more right than wrong (and if we are doing something wrong, please tell us!). Thanks for helping

keep Unshelved going. We’re having a blast.
