The Golden Compass is now a graphic novel.
Unshelved comic strip for 2/24/2012

Guest Strip by Faith Erin Hicks plus Book Reviews

Unshelved Book Club

Today's guest book club comic is by Canadian cartoonist Faith Erin Hicks. I loved her two previous graphic novels, The War at Ellsmere and Zombies Calling!, but her new book, Friends With Boys (you can still read the book online if you hurry), is by far my favorite (it has zombies and brothers and a ghost). If her name is familiar, you may have seen her webcomics Demonology101, Ice, or Superhero Girl. She also did a book with J. Torres titled Bigfoot Boy that will be coming out in Fall 2012 (and about which I'm hoping to interview them at TCAF.) Please help us thank her by reading some of her comics!

Also, this week in the Unshelved Book Club you'll find books about Sherlock Holmes' assistant, teens fighting an ancient evil, an awesome basketball game, a young girl fixing up her neighborhood, cyborg murders, a young woman dealing with her mother's death, photos of where kids sleep all over the world, and a convicted criminal getting revenge on those who abandoned him.

PS: There are still lots of BEA VIP passes left. I encourage librarians in any position, at any type of library, to send me an email. (Links and criteria are in the original blog post.)
