I love science. I do. It brought us the wonderful world we have today, and I don't mean that in any ironic sense. But science has become a tool of politics and as such it has become severly devalued and that is a terrible thing. That's why I loved reading this incredibly good speech by Michael Crichton. It maps out the degradation of science in the last half-century. We should all be ashamed. Well not me, but everyone else.
