Some of you have complained that I haven't been keeping our Unshelved Book Club index up to date. Guilty as charged. I believe everything is now there. And now, looking at that long list, I wish it were sortable and searchable, darn it.
Thanks to ComicCon and a family vacation I am stretched to the breaking point. So we're taking the week off. This week's Unshelved strips will be blasts from the past. We hope you enjoy them. Er, again.
P.S. Sunday's Book Club will be new, and we'll still be blogging.
This week we're pleased to be sponsored by Da Capo Press, publisher of Quiet Please by Scott Douglas. I've been enjoying Scott's Dispatches from a Public Librarian in McSweeney's for many years. I got to see a galley of the book, for which I contributed the following blurb:
Quiet Please is a typical superhero story. There's an origin, a rogue's gallery, loyal sidekicks, and death-defying adventures in the service of all mankind. Oh, and the superhero is a librarian. But I repeat myself."
Sadly, said blurb was too late to make it onto the book jacket. I've been kicking myself for writing deathless prose that would never see the light of day. Now that problem is solved.
