The Passage

My favorite perk of this job, even more than the supermodels and private jets, is getting advance reader copies of books. That's how I got hold of Justin Cronin's The Passage, by far my favorite book of the year. I immediately called up my friend Jenn Childs at Random House Library Services and asked if she would be willing to do some sort of giveaway for our readers. She pulled some strings, called in some favors, and presumably crossed a few palms with silver. The result? Ten copies of The Passage signed by the author.

Here's the deal. Just tell us, in a rhyming couplet, what you would do to survive a vampire apocalypse. It can be short or long, but not too long because the only way to submit entries is via Twitter. Why Twitter? Because we spend a lot of time there (I'm @billba and Gene is @ambaum) and this way everyone can see the submissions as they happen.

Post an entry (you can submit as many as you like) like so:

sharpen stakes
while eating cakes
#thepassagecontest

To qualify it must be a single rhyming couplet and must include the hashtag #thepassagecontest. To see what people have been submitting just search for the hashtag #thepassagecontest.

The contest ends at midnight on Friday June 11. Gene and I will judge the contest using completely arbitrary criteria, then announce the ten winners in our blog here at Unshelved.com the following week.
