Guest Strip by Jon Chad plus Book Reviews

Unshelved Book Club

Today’s guest book club comic is by Jon Chad, cartoonist and CCS faculty member (he teaches screen printing and book making). His new graphic novel, the ultra-long (or tall, depending on how you hold it) Leo Geo and His Miraculous Journey Through the Center of the Earth is a fun adventure that teaches real science. Jon is known for his beautiful minicomics like Bikeman (you can see them in his blog starting here). Along with cartoonist Alex Longstreth he also produces a zine on pinball, Drop Target, and posts to a blog on Stern Pinball. Please help us thank Jon for his awesome comic by checking out his work.

Also, this week in the Unshelved Book Club you’ll find books about a crazed anime club, a white reporter who changed his appearance to report on what it was like to live like an African American in the south in 1959, freaky killers, a dancing dog, an annual list, a boy who gets different superpowers depending on what he eats, a graphic graphic novel about a boy scout troop, and another graphic novel where Legos are used to recreate scenes from the Old Testament.

PS: We still have some BEA VIP passes left. Don’t be shy, we don’t want these to go to waste.
