We need your help to continue producing Unshelved. Please support us on Patreon.

Here’s what’s up: Bill has returned to work in the software industry, and he’s taking a step back from Unshelved.

I miss working in a library. It’s time for me to get out of my kitchen and back into the real-life crazy again. But I’m determined to continue to make Unshelved, and to make it better than ever.

Bill is helping me transition to working more closely with our new artist, Chris Hallbeck, an amazing comics creator in his own right (Maximumble).

Before, as cashflow ebbed and flowed, Bill and I could wait months if necessary to pay ourselves. But we’re not in a position to do that any longer. Chris works for us, and we need to pay him regularly. And we also need to pay Ang, who handles logistics and has taken over other duties that Bill and I used to handle.

This is why we need your help.

The Unshelved Patreon is off to a good start at about $300 per month. This is awesome as it covers website and newsletter-related expenses.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far!

But we need the Patreon to cover the basic cost of producing Unshelved. At $1350 it will also pay Chris to illustrate four comics per week. At $1750 it will cover the additional cost of Friday Unshelved Book Club comics, too. Higher levels of support will mean we can keep paying for book reviews.

If we reach those levels of support, we can use money from ad sales and merchandise to cover Ang’s salary and to pay me a bit. But if there’s not much left for me, that’s okay. I’m willing to keep writing comics and doing a bit of record keeping for free if I have to because I love it. Everybody needs a weird hobby. (Writing Unshelved. Not the record keeping. I’m not crazy.) And of course I don’t want to miss any of the stories you send me.

But I need your help to be sure we can keep making Unshelved.  (And I hope that our life-changing Patreon rewards will sweeten the deal for you.)

Thanks!
